WHY OVITRAPPOLA?
A cheap and efficient way to fight against tiger mosquitos. Once attracted mosquitos to lay eggs they will be destroyed or trapped. The tiger mosquitos lay their eggs in small quantities of dirty water. Ovitrappole are the ideal solution to interrupt the biological cycle of these insects. According to many specialists, ovitrappole are really efficient to fight against mosquitos.
HOW DOES IT WORKS?
Our Ovitrappola is half filled with water and it is placed in the soil for no more than 5 days. In this way it is possible to attract the female that lays eggs. After 5 days the water has to be poured in the soil (not in drains) and the eggs laid, or the larvas, in contact with the soil and without water will die. After that it is important to wash the container in order to remove every possible egg or larva attached to the edge.
We need to remember that the tiger mosquito covers more or less 150-200 meters during its life. For this reason too the ovitrappole work in a circumscribed environment fighting against the tiger mosquitos. Attraction and placement are two key factors for the right operation of OVITRAPPOLA.
ATTRACTION
There are some devices in order to make the water of ovitrappola more pleasant for the mosquitos. The specialists suggest the water containing simple grass.
PLACEMENT
The best place to put them is in shady places, avoiding the exposition to the direct light of the sun. They don’t have to be put in hidden places or far from overcrowded places. Ovitrappole must be placed at the maximum height of 1 meter, it would be better between 50 and 60 cm..
They should be partially protected by a wall or an enclosure, with at least a space of 15 cm. between the wall/enclosure and the trap. They can be put under canopies, shelters, hung to a tree trunk, etc.. It is important to avoid places where the excessive flowing of the rain water from roofs, gutters or shelters could submerge them.
